It looks like Netflix isn’t the only one losing a significant part of its superhero output. Arrow star Stephen Amell just confirmed that his show on the CW will be coming to an end this year. The current, seventh, series – which just revealed Highlander star Adrian Paul as the main villain Dante – will continue its run and then the series will return for a ten-episode arc for a foreshortened eighth season in the Autumn/Fall. The CW’s other shows – Supergirl, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow look set to continue at this point and depending on how the Arrow show finishes, the track-record of crossovers suggest it would be perfectly plausible for Amell to make guest-appearances in the other shows should the need or opportunity arise.
Amell tweeted the confirmation of the cancellation on twitter, telling fans: Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever. Arrow will return for a final run of 10 episodes this Fall. There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you…
