Hayley Atwell, who plays Agent Peggy Carter in the MCU (appearing in the Captain America films, the Avengers movies, her own television series for ABC and last seen as an alt-universe version who assumed the super-soldier role instead of Steve Rogers for What If..? ) is keeping busy. She’s currently shooting the seventh Mission Impossible movie in the UK and later this year she will take on the mantle of another female action star.
In somewhat inspired casting, Atwell will provide the voice of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider anime series created by Netflix and Legendary. The plan is for the animated series to set events after the original game trilogy and will be penned by Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja), who will also serve as an executive producer.
Lara Croft – the infamous trouble-seeking archaeologist who almost single-handedly created the action-game heroine era of the 1990s, has previously been played by Angelina Jolie (in the two feature films released in 2001 and 2003 respectively). Alicia Vikander took the role in the 2018 reboot and a sequel to that is currently in production with Misha Green both writing and directing.
