Next Mission Impossible outing is out to get ‘Carter’…

Get Carter.... or, more accurately, Get Peggy Atwell...as the MCU's stalwart gets set to join another group of impossible spies...

Hayley Atwell has become one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s stalwarts for her role as Peggy Carter, the woman who helped create SHIELD and who seemingly lost the love of her life Steve Rogers / Captain America when his plane crashed during WWII (but, given recent Avengers movies, she might have got a happier ending after all?). In total she has made appearances as the character in five MCU outings.

Though there are rumours that she/Peggy might yet appear in the already-filmed final season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD (which has time-traveled back to 1930s New York but will possibly explore other eras) it appears Atwell’s next job will see her align herself with a different group of globe-trotting spies. She is joining the cast of the next Mission Impossible movie which will begin shooting soon. The current plan is for the seventh and eighth parts of the franchise (both to eb directed by Chris McQuarrie) to shoot back-to-back, though it is not known if Atwell’s character will feature in both movies or not. The films will be released in the late summers of 2021 and 2022 respectively.

It is fully expected that Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames are also down to return.
