It’s been unusually quiet on the Star Wars battlefront recently, but now we have a trailer and a name for the chapter previousy entitled Episode IX.
Though several possibilities had been thrown around by fans (the most popular being the evergreen ‘Balance of the Force‘), the massive Star Wars Celebration in Chicago was the site of the big reveal for The Rise of Skywalker. Whether this refers to a not-quite-dead Luke or flies in the face of conversations Rey has had about her real aprentage, we’ll have to wait until December to confirm, but today’s trailer showed Daisy Ridley and Co. in fine fighting form – taking on a TIE fighter with a lightsaber, Billy Dee Williams’ return as Lando Calrissian and a glimpse of what appears to be Carrie Fisher’s final scenes (perhaps helped with a little CGI). And it’s been confirmed that the laughter we hear comes from the (supposedly) long-dead Palpatine. Hmmmmmm.
Is this really the end of the ‘Skywalker Saga’ or is ‘no-one ever really gone’…
