Last year there were rumours that Arnold Schwarzenegger might be heading to his first action drama series and today comes the confirmation that Netflix has given the greenlight to an eight-episode series (as yet untitled) created by Nick Santora (who also ran Quibi‘s The Fugitive) and produced by Skydance TV.
Echoing the idea of films such as True Lies and Mr & Mrs. Smith and shows such as Alias, the series will star Arnold and Monica Barbaro (soon to be seen in Top Gun: Maverick) as a father and daughter who learn that they have each independently been CIA operatives for the years, without the other one knowing their secret. When there occupations are revealed, they are finally forced to work together it changes their family and working dynamics forever… leading to drama, humour and world-wide adventures.
“Fans from all over the world have been asking me for a wild ride like this for years, and now they’re finally going to get it because of our great partners at Skydance and Netflix,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “I am beyond pumped to start work on the show with Nick and Monica and the whole team.”
It is not known when production of the series will begin, but it would seem likely to debut some time in 2022.
