Post-Mod ‘Squad’: James Gunn unites Doctor Who and Mal Reynolds..?

James Gunn's 'The Suicide Squad' is certainly adding a lot of familiar faces to its line-up...

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is certainly cranking up the geek credentials in the casting department. After news that Nathan Fillion and Taiki Waititi were joining the cast, it now appears that Peter Capaldi, the Twelfth Doctor Who, is also aboard in an unknown role. At first glance the breaking news almost sounded like TWO Doctors were joining, though closer scrutiny noted that it was Peter Davidson (the Saturday Night Live team-member) and not Peter Davison (the Fifth Doctor) who might also cameo.

They join the already-announced cast that includes the returning Margot Robbie (as Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (as Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (as Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (as Rick Flag) and a raft of new characters essayed by the likes of Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Flula Borg and Steve Agee.

Production on the film is due to start  at the end of month for an August 2020 release.
