Oh, Brothers! Winchesters end their ‘Supernatural’ quest…

It's the end of the world as we know it... or at least as 'Supernatural' fans have known it over the course of many an apocalypse...

It’s the show they couldn’t kill. Or they could kill, but it would regularly fight its way out of hell and simply refuse to die.

All that being said, it has now been announced by series stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins (in the post seen below) that next season, the fifteenth in Supernatural ‘s astonishing run will be their last.  Over that decade and a half, the show has had more than one brush with potential cancellation and then come back and risen higher to become one of the most successful cult shows on the air with certainly one of the most passionate fanbases.

In an official written statement, Executive Producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb added their voices: “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”

This is the second significant CW series to be ending with its next run and comes only a few days after the formal announcement that Arrow would also be leaving the screen.
