Over the years there’s been many titles and certainly a fair degree of different fonts for the iconic titles featuring Doctor Who. Every new showrunner and actor has made their mark, often with a wash-and-brush-up to the show’s font.
Given the world’s longest running science-fiction show now has quite a marketing and merchandising division, some of that branding needs to be sorted well in advance and so the BBC has unveiled a look at how it plans to do that well ahead of the show’s return. A new, streamlined version of the words has been released alongside a short teaser video and striking poster, the latter featuring an almost silhouetted shape of Jodie Whittaker’s incoming Time Lord (Lady?)
There’s still been no firm date announced for the show, with speculation ranging from August to October for the start of the ten-episode run – the serious money seemingly on the latter date letting the show play out through the end of the year with a Christmas Day special.
Technically there’s no news on that special, though if there wasn’t a Christmas Day outing for the Tardis, it would be the first non-Who Christmas in over a decade.
