Each of the Marvel / Disney+ series to date has had their own tone and theme. Going from the newly-released trailer for the Hawkeye series, arriving on Disney+ in November, the latest show has a tongue-in-cheek, old-style caper vibe with a touch of seasonal flair. While some have suspected that the end of the Black Widow movie might tie-in to the Hawkeye series (with sister Yelena – played by Florence Pugh – primed to track down Clint Barton who she may wrongly blame for Natasha’s death), the trailer might suggest that there’s a more light-hearted, if not less dangerous approach to proceedings.
Barton is set for a quiet Christmas-time with his family when he hears about the actions of a vigilante named Ronin. That was the ruthless ninja-like identity he assumed after the Thanos ‘snap’ and he believed his family were gone forever. Feeling some responsibility, he tracks down the ‘new’ Ronin, only to find out that it’s a girl name Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). She has some serious archery skills but also a huge case of her-worship for Hawkeye himself.
That might be tested as Kate’s pursuers target both the sharp-shooters and get set to cast a long shadow over the holiday season…
The series also stars Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka the hearing-impaired hero ‘Echo’. The trailer – complete with festive soundtrack and a ton of product-placement – is certainly a lot of fun…
The series arrives 24th November…
