Filming continues on the second season of Paramount+ show Picard. As well as returning stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, Brent Spiner and major guest-star John DeLancie as ‘Q’, it’s now been announced that Annie Wersching (of 24, Runaways and Bosch fame) will be joining the cast.
She will play an incarnation of the infamous Borg Queen – controller of the Borg Collective, the infamous assimilators of the Next Generation era. The role was previously played by Alice Krige in Star Trek: First Contact and then Susanna Thompson in several episodes of Star Trek: Voyager.
Little is known about the over-all arc for the second season of the Star Trek spin-off f(eaturing a newly-rejuvenated Jean-Luc Picard), though it seemingly involves the omnipotent ‘Q’ and some aspect of time-travel – two key Trek motifs. Originally intended for a late 2021 debut, it will now return to screens early in 2022, the slight delay likely due to the ongoing COVID restrictions needed for filming.
