Positive Result? CBS All Access will rebrand + more in 2021…

CBS All Access is broadening its output and changing its name in 2021...

ViacomCBS announced on Tuesday that their  CBS All Access platform (currently the home on offerings such as the latest Star Trek shows, The Good Fight, The Twilight Zone and the upcoming The Stand) will be re-branding in 2021 and will be called Paramount +.

The given reason is that the service will be expanding more into the library of older offerings, news and sports to compliment its new original drama programming.  ViamcomCBS will roll out the change first in the US and Australia, Latin America and the Nordic regions with other territories following thereafter.

Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling. With Paramount+, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy,” said Bob Bakish, President and CEO, ViacomCBS in a press release.

There will continue to be original programming including two new dramas. The Offer is a scripted ten-episode limited event series from Paramount Television Studios, based on Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy’s behind-the-scenes making of  The Godfather.  Lioness is a spy drama created by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan and inspired by  a real-life CIA program. It tells how a young marine is recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist in an effort to bring the organisation down.   Among the ‘factual’ programming ill be a show called The Real Criminal Minds, a docuseries going behind the profiling of criminals which formed the basis for CBS hit drama Criminal Minds (which ended earlier this year).
