There were a lot of expected commercials between the action at this year’s Super Bowl, but though there had been whispers, the trailer for the upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series from Amazon Studios (due in September) was quite the breath-taking spectacle.
Clearly demonstrating its massive scope and budget, the one minute of scenes from the series can only be described as ‘epic‘. Though the series will rise and fall on the strength of its story – set a thousand years before the events of the films – it’s clear just how much effort has been put into making the series look amazing. With this and the forthcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, there’s little doubt that television is entering a new age of entertainment where it can realistically compete with its big-screen cousin…
