Despite coronavirus delays throughout the industry, Disney has said they are hoping to keep post-production schedules of The Mandalorian‘s second season on track for broadcast on Disney+ in October. There’s also been a number of new details regarding the talent involved for that sophomore run. We know show-runner Jon Favreau is returning and that directors involved include the legendary Robert Rodriguez. It was also noted that the character of Boba Fett would appear (essayed by Temeura Morrison) and there’s every reason to believe that Rosario Dawson is onboard as alive-action version of Ahsoka Tano who previously debuted in the animated Clone Wars.
But now comes more casting news, with yet another top-notch action-drama actor set to create a live-action version counterpart to an animated character. Katee Sackhoff – a genre favourite after her role as Starbuck in the Battlestar Galactica reboot – is set to play the role of Mandalorian warrior Bo Katan Kryze, a conflicted character from both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. The casting, while firmly cementing her continued credentials (which also include Netflix‘s Another Life, a recurring role in The Flash and five years on Longmire) shouldn’t be a huge surprise as Sackhoff previously voiced the character in those two animated Star Wars shows…
Early speculation suggests that Bo Katan Kryze’s appearance may be linked to the Dark-Saber that appeared in the animated series but was also seen in the hands of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in The Mandalorian‘s first season finale…
In other far, far away casting news, Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Santa Clarita Diet) will appear in an as-yet unnamed role and visual effects legend Phil Tippett is also coming on board for the next two seasons.
