SDCC: ‘Snowpiercer’ trailer looks set to track well…

The graphic novel turned movie turned series looks to be on track for an exciting 2020 debut...

As fans of the original genre-twisting film, we’ve been pretty excited about the progress of the tv version of Snowpiercer which is set to debut on TBS next year and has already been renewed for a second run.

The original 2013 film, based on French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, tells the story of  a massive train travelling through an icy, globally-apocalyptic landscape and the class warfare and revolution that breaks out after seven years of non-stop momentum – with the lowly workers slowly moving down the miles of carriages. It starred Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Song Kang-ho, Go Ha-sung, Octavia Spencer and Ed Harris. The television version boasts names such as Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Jaylin Fletcher and Rowan Blanchard (who will be a regular from the second season).

But until this past weekend, we’ve only had small glimpses and had to follow the nuggets of information that leaked out. There’s been controversies, with various creative talent leaving and new people coming in, but at the SDCC there was the first chance to get a real look at proper footage – and a first trailer for the project which seems to capture a lot of the elements of the film. And it all looks rather promising…

Take a look…
