Spring 2021 will see Loki return to tv screens with the popular anti-hero/villain getting his firstsolo adventure on Disney+. But the set-up could provide you with something of a headache…
This will be the version of Loki, once again played by Tom Hiddleston that we saw make an unscheduled escape in 2012, during the time-travel events depicted in Avengers: Endgame – and which arguably seemed to create a new timeline that doesn’t include the events we saw him involved with in subsequent Marvel movies between 2012 to 2019. It also appears that Loki will be seen in different key periods of Earth’s history.
If that wasn’t enough interesting Asgardian news, it’s also been confirmed that Taika Waititi’s just announced Thor 4 will be entitled Thor: Love and Thunder and will actually pivot around a female incarnation of the thunder god. Despite stories that she was unhappy to continue with the franchise after a contractual second Thor movie, the new film will see the return of Oscar-winning Natalie Portman to the role of Jane Foster. Though there’s not a full script as yet, the film’s plot at least partially seeming to echo the concept of the comics where Foster, now dying of cancer, is given the opportunity to stall the process and take on the mantle of the Asgardian for a while, at least, when the ‘original’ Thor is no longer deemed worthy. Chris Hemsworth will be in the film and it also features Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. It is set for an Autumn 2021 release.
