Though its hit franchise shows are safe (NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans and Hawaii Five-O along with MacGyver, SEAL Team, Elementary and SWAT will all be back) and another newcomer Instinct (with Alan Cumming) has been renewed, CBS has announced that Scorpion will not.
The high-concept dramedy about a group of scientific whiz-kids who regularly save the world but find it difficult to navigate the real world’s more complex relationships was an original hit and over its four seasons CBS even crossed the show over with NCIS:Los Angeles (technically making the show part of the NCIS and Hawaii-Five-O continuities).
Also renewed is Criminal Minds, once again getting close-to-the-wire when it came to renewal. The general thinking is that the next run, its fourteenth season, will be the last for the gritty procedural
CBS has also cancelled comedies Superior Donuts and Kevin Can Wait, both of which were in their second year and 9JKL and Me, Myself and I, which were in their first. Drama Wisdom of the Crowd won’t be back after being pulled from the schedules several months ago.
