After ‘Home’, animated Spider-man returns to the Spider-verse…

SONY has dropped a surprise trailer for next year's sequel to the Oscar-winning animated 'Spider-verse' film...

There’s a lot of talk about Spider-man at the moment. The upcoming ‘No Way Home‘ looks set to have ticket-sales not seen in the already-popular MCU for some time and with the list of returning stars to the franchise, expectations are high.

But this weekend saw another unexpected addition to the Spider-frenzy, a very early sneak-peek at Across the Spider-verse: Part One, the follow-up to the Oscar-winning animated outing Into the Spider-verse  that saw multiple multiverse Spider-men (and women) combine their abilities to take down an interdimensional threat.  The comics’ Miles Morales assumes centre-stage when the Peter Parker of his world is killed. This sequel won’t be out for the best part of another year (7th October 2022), but this teaser trailer certainly whets the appetite for what’s to come.

The synopsis: Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

The cast includes Shameik Moore reprising the role of Miles and the now ever-present Hailee Steinfeld (Hawkeye, Arcane) returning as ‘Spider-Gwen’ with Star Wars and Dune‘s Oscar Isaac (as Miguel O’Hara, the briefly-glimpsed Spider-man of 2099)
