Warrior Nun: Netflix has a hard habit to break (bones)….

Netflix is rounding out the cast for its holier-than-thou action-fest manga adaptation, due to go into production soon....

The manga graphic novels of Ben Dunn’s ‘Warrior Nun‘ are getting the Netflix treatment telling the story of an amnesiac woman who wakes up in the morgue. She may have escaped death but she now has a religious artifact embedded in her back and finds out she’s a part of – and a weapon for – an ancient order with a mandate to fight demons. It seems both Heaven and Hell wish to control her, but she’s definitely her own woman.

Portuguese actress Alba Baptista has been announced as nineteen year old Ava, the titular warrior with Sylvia De Fanti (Medici, The Best Offer) now confirmed for a regular role as Mother Superion who trains the ancient order. The current line-up for the supporting cast includes Toya Turner (Incredibles 2), Tristan Ulloa (Crash Test Aglaé ), Thekla Reuten(Red Sparrow/Highlander: The Source/In Bruges), Kristina Tonteri-Young (The Crocodile’s Gift), Lorena Andrea (Papillon) and Emilio Sakraya (Cold Feet).

Simon Barry (Ghost Wars, Continuum) is writing the show as well as acting as executive producer and show-runner with  Stephen Hegyes (White Noise, 50 Dead Men Walking) and  Terri Hughes Burton (The 100, Eureka) also on board as  co-executive producera and Amy Berg (Counterpart, Da Vinci’s Demons) as a consulting producer.

The series is shooting in Spain for broadcast later in the year.
