Feel the buzz: Ant-man & The Wasp trailer…

Size matters - but Marvel's next outing is more 'Infinity and BEFORE...'

There’s been quite a lot of publicity around Marvel‘s compact and bijou independent featurette known as ‘Infinity War‘, but it’s not the only film from the studio that will be in multiplexes this year – the next one stars at least one tiny hero conspicuously missing from the larger ensemble of ‘canon’-fodder.

Avoiding having to deal directly with the cliffhanger ending of Infinity War, most of Ant-Man and the Wasp is actually set before the events of the current record-breaking film. Ex-criminal-turned-hero Scott Lang is under house-arrest after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

The sequel to 2015’s crowd-pleasing Ant-Man sees the return of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Pena as his pal  Louis, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and – as the title indicates – will see an increased role for Evangeline Lilly (LOST, Real Steel) as Hope Van Dyne and her new alter-ego, the Wasp. Though some of the film deals with industrial espionage and a ‘phasing’ villain known as ‘The Ghost’ (Hannah John-Kamen), Lang and the van Dynes will also be continuing their search for Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), Hank’s wife, who was lost in the sub-atomic microverse many years before.

The film also features Walt Goggins, Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale and Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster. It is believed that both Lilly and Rudd will also have a presence in the Infinity War‘s follow-up movie (as yet untitled), due in spring next year.

Ant-Man & The Wasp arrives in US cinemas on 6th July, but UK audiences will have to wait until 3rd August to see how things play out…
